David Poxon was born in the Industrial heartland of England, but now makes his home in the rural countryside of Shropshire. U.K.
He is an elected member of the prestigious R.I. (The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours) and serves on the R.I. Council He is also a signature member of N.W.S (The National watercolour society of America).
When a painting truly ‘works’ there is a resonance which stretches beyond subject and picture plane, reaching out to the audience and transcending a mere visual experience. To be able to convey something of the ‘real’ of my subjects, which are the common place, the humble, the overlooked, the places and work things of mankind, is a powerful and stimulating experience. I have a deep, joyful, and respectful excitement at the beginning of every new work. We watercolour painters search for the ephemeral essence of our very souls through the art we love, this is our philosophy and the truth of our vision.
Over the years he has won many awards and accolades for the precision and craftsmanship of his paintings.
He is the author of three books, two on drawing techniques and the latest is the critically acclaimed 190 page ‘Watercolour Heart & Soul’. David Poxon has contributed many articles to the Art Magazine press and has appeared in numerous art books. David is a much sought after Master painter and also serves as a Juror in some of the worlds most prestigious watercolour shows. He exhibits in fine art galleries worldwide.
‘Watercolour Heart & Soul’ was published to world wide critical acclaim and is available from this web, or Amazon and all good bookstores, including The SAA and Diverti Publications France.. In 2018 David organized the Invitational International Watercolour Masters Exhibition which was held at Weston Park, Shropshire, England.
