Artist Marek Langowski

For many of us painting is a passion. Paintings communicate through the use of emotions, Some fill us with joy while other fill us with sorrow. They are a reflection of what we were, what we are and what we can be, they can give us hope for a better tomorrow.

My work is mostly contemporary oil paintings with a thick texture of paint. There is no domination of one colour. The play on light is very important, this can be seen from the reflection off the waves of the sea, the flickering light of a lantern in the darkest of streets, the beauty seen from a sunrise or sunset.

Marek Langowski was born in Aleksandrow Lódzki. He lives and works in Belchatow, near Lodz. The biggest passions of Marek are family loving, painting, photography and computing.

Langowski is a genuinely talented painter who uses a variety of techniques in order to create these incredible works. Wonderfully crafted scenes of the Venice lagoon shimmer with the dance of light on the canal surface. Boats are illuminated by the golden glow of streetlights to create a glorious canvass. His seascapes contain every flick of light, caught fleetingly on the temporary crest of a wave as the boats hold their solid forms in front of the dissipating sunlight. In some works he faithfully captures the shape and grandeur of the masts and sails, in others he allows the light to take over in a more impressionistic style.

Drawing obvious comparisons with some of the finest names in art history such as Turner and Canelletto, Langowski is a genuinely talented painter who uses a variety of techniques in order to create these incredible works.

When human beings make an appearance in his work they do so as isolated, solitary figures, holding bright red umbrellas against the murky grey twilight of a rain soaked evening. This is striking and beautiful work and we are delighted to bring it to a wider audien.
