Waldemar J. Marszalek born 1960 in Dobrzyca Poland, studied in Gdansk and got his diploma in 1985. He stayed at the Academy teaching and from about 2007 ran a basics of graphic arts studio. He began with lithography and graphic design then moved into painting and drawing in the 90s, since 2004 he also works with digital techniqes, he lives and works in Gdansk.
He has had dozens of solo shows and near 200 group exhibitions, his works are in private and public collections and auction records show modest prices, one top sale around $3,800 for a work called “Women”. His pieces mix printmaking skill with painterly color, often detailed and decorative, they feel crafted and modern but sometimes a bit formal and stiff.
