Lyudmila Lucy Tomova

Lyudmila Tomova is a rising star on the Triangle art scene, originally from Sofia, Bulgaria. She immigrated to the United States 25 years ago and lived in New York City, working as a full-time painter and editorial illustrator. Her recent watercolors have attracted much attention locally and nationally with their expressive brushwork and stylized flair.

She has received numerous awards for her masterfully executed work which uniquely merges abstract and realistic elements together. Her strong education in Classical realism from Sofia’s Academy of Fine Arts and later from FIT in New York has helped her establish herself as a versatile artist. Her work emphasizes movement, bringing images to life with color and line.

She has exhibited nationally and abroad and her diverse artistic experience of over 20 years has helped her become one of the most prolific artist in the Triangle. She was recently nominated as an Emerging Woman 2016 and will be personally recognized at the NC Museum of Art. Lyudmila resides in Cary and has a watercolor workshop at the Village Art Circle gallery.
