Good to know before you play

How do I play?

Drag any piece with your finger or mouse and drop it close to its spot on the board. When it fits, it clicks into place and locks. Loose pieces start in the tray below the board. Pieces that belong side by side latch together like magnets when you bring them close, and from then on they move as one group. To pull a piece free, hold it still for 3 seconds until the ring fills.

What if I get stuck?

Tap "Show hint" to reveal a faint preview of the painting on the board. You can also switch to fewer pieces at any time, which starts the same painting over.

Can I make it easier or harder?

Yes. Choose 12, 24 or 40 pieces. The exact count can shift by a piece or two, because the grid adapts to the shape of each painting.

What happens when I finish?

The full painting appears with its title and artist. Then oil paint in colors taken from that artwork drips down the screen, and the next painting is ready to solve.

Why oil paint?

Oil paint dries slowly, often over days, so painters could blend, scrape and rework their colors. The drips are a playful nod to that thick, wet, forgiving medium.

Why solve a puzzle of a painting?

Building an image piece by piece slows you down. You start to notice brushwork, color shifts and small details that are easy to miss at a quick glance.
