Imma Merino

Imma Merino was born in Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain, in 1962. She currently lives and works in Mataró, Barcelona. Art has always been a part of her life.

Her mother used to say she was born with a pencil in her hand. Her schoolbooks were full of little drawings in the margins. A teacher once told her father to enroll her in a drawing academy.

She studied at the Arenas i Clavell academy. She also trained in the studio of the brothers Jordi and Jaume Arenas i Cavell. For two years, she learned in the workshop of Ayné.

Imma works mainly with oil paints. She also creates drawings and ink works. Her subjects range from landscapes to sensual nudes.

She does not like classifications. She believes people should look at the artworks themselves. Her art expresses her love for every living thing.

She has her own art workshop in Mataró. She teaches painting and drawing there. She also runs a blog called “Arte del Retrato”.
