SCIENCE AND ART

I have always been fascinated with science, engineering, architecture, and, particularly, with space and space exploration. These are obvious sources of inspiration, but I also want to blend these with an appreciation for natural beauty, including the human figure, and the natural landscape.

I also remain committed to craftsmanship with the construction of my paintings and seek to incorporate the best possible painting practices, materials, and techniques, both traditional and modern.

WHAT AND WHY I PAINT

As always, I am interested in continuing to portray themes of beauty, achievement, innovation, and aspiration, but more recently with an emphasis on narrative and an optimistic view of the future. To that end, I like to focus on subjects that incorporate these themes and are also suggestive of a not-too-distant future, and that portray a positive perspective. My goal is not to paint science fiction, but to express what I find important, beautiful, and inspirational about the world, the universe, and human kind’s place in it from a point of view in the future. I am hoping to connect with others that are excited to explore, that see potential, and that want to be impactful in a positive way. I welcome you, and hope you enjoy my work and that it will help sustain your journey.

About kids… Children often demonstrate the capacity to imagine the future and the unknown as an amazing and beautiful place in a sincere way that adults often cannot. Children and their aspirations are favorite subjects of mine. As a parent, I envision a future for my children that is challenging, but also filled with possibility and wonder – a future to be excited about!

You will find some of the more recent updates on craftsmanship and conservation-oriented painting on Bryan’s webpage for best practices for other fine artists.
