Antony Hinchliffe is a full-time figurative painter based in Northamptonshire, who sold his first commission at just eleven years old.
He works primarily in oil on canvas, sometimes using an acrylic underpainting. He often dilutes oil paint with turpentine in the early stages, applying it like watercolour, and combines palette knife and brushwork to create richly textured, expressive compositions.

He has exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries in London. In 2020, Zuleika Gallery selected two of his pieces for a charity exhibition, with one awarded best in show.
He feels he has succeeded when he can look at his finished painting and recall how he felt during the process, like re-reading a diary. He continues to paint and teach, balancing his studio work with his passion for flying.
